BZI Case Study: The Power of Partnerships

One of the most significant investments you can make in business is to make meaningful connections. Many people think networking wastes time, especially if they feel people need something from them. I feel exactly the opposite – I enjoy finding ways to help others. And I am always appreciative of those who help me as well.

Case in point: I met Teresa Fausti two years ago this month through a mutual friend in tech communications. She was well-respected, having sold her PR agency and working for top technology companies. At the time, we were both consulting and wanted to find a way to work together. We are both strategic advisors to founders and executives who dive in and do the work. We get results, and we get them fast.

Fortunately, we were brought on by a phenomenal marketing agency – Arcade Partners – as consultants to work on a BZI, an innovative construction technology company. BZI needed a full-scale branding and communications program built from scratch. Teresa and I were charged with defining strategic messaging that would impact all announcements, executive communications, award recognition, and media relations efforts.

Although adept at working in construction technology (I led Corporate Marketing for Aconex, which Oracle acquired), I did need to ramp up on BZI’s business. I am passionate about learning new technologies. Just because I don’t have specific expertise in a particular industry does not mean I cannot handle the job – quite the opposite.

The results speak for themselves. In just 1 ½ years, we have been able to accomplish the following for BZI:

  • Multiple major announcements leading to a major car manufacturer signing a multi-million dollar deal, as well as recognition from Utah’s Governor
  • CEO James Barlow was welcomed into the Forbes Business Council and invited to the Fast Company Impact Council and Inc. Masters
  • Awards! Lots of them:
    • Fast Company’s “World Changing Ideas” finalist in the Architecture category
    • Inc 5000’s Fastest Growing Private Companies (#1795)
    • The #1 Top Workplace Award in Utah from the Salt Lake City Tribune and another national “Top Workplace” award are coming this Spring.
    • CEO James Barlow won the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige Leadership award
    • Finalist for the Edison Awards – winner to be announced in 2024
    • Multiple steel and construction industry awards
  • Features in Forbes, BOSS Magazine, Business View; broadcast coverage on CBS, NBC, and ABC; and multiple industry/local publications

What made these milestones possible? Partnerships. Our work is only as good as the awesome clients we work with that support us.

As a consultant, I can work solely with clients — but I have a vast network of marketing professionals I work with who can join larger-scale projects that need help with design, growth marketing, and more.

Whatever your marketing needs are, let me know. I will help you personally, bring in partners, or refer you to the right person for your needs!
